Let's not forget to Celebrate - Word To the Wise

With planes crashing, political scandals throughout most offices, Russia taunting the U.S with flybys, and an endless list of assorted harmful things it seems there is only bad news according to many media outlets. Is the doomsday clock really pushing closer and closer to midnight or is the good news hard to find?

For Trans_Conduit all the media focus on negativity has inspired their latest single, a somber party song titled “Word to the Wise”. In the song Mankins sings, “The party is here tonight” almost trying to remind those who are already in the know that they should celebrate the good things in this life every night. When asked about the song’s meaning, Mankins said, “As the idiom in the chorus suggests, people don’t need a long explanation to know that when it comes to music, we should never forget to come with celebrating in mind as often as possible” Writing with Luis Ocasio, it sounds like Mankins was trying to escape an unavoidable negative media and create a song to remind himself that at least with music you can always find the “right place and right time” where others want to celebrate good news.

The talent on the song features special guest musicians Aidan Spencer (Liquid Blue) on guitar and Luis Ocasio on saxophone and vocals, alongside the usual line up Kevin Mankins on vocals, wobbles, keys, drum sequencing and Ed Fletcher on steel pan and percussions. All tracked mixed and mastered at Cape May Sound Laboratory San Diego, CA except saxophone and vocals by Luis Ocasio. They were tracked in Vancouver, WA where the song was written.

The single incorporates elements of dub step, reggae, jazz, world music, and blends it all up in an alt-pop arrangement. Word to the Wise almost demands that no matter your trouble you have to get up off your feet and do one of the following: wobble with the bass, jump with steel pans, bob your heads to the skanks, rap the ear worms, or sway to the horns as long as your celebrating.
